Youngeste

Youngeste (pronounced youngest, with a silent ‘e’) is the musical identity of Australian artist and actor James Majoos.

Raised in Croydon, a suburb on the outskirts of Melbourne, Majoos grew up on the music drifting out of his older sisters’ bedrooms. Those early influences shaped his affinity for pop, particularly the melodic immediacy, emotional candour and euphoric production of Scandinavian artists such as Robyn and Annie. Youngeste draws on that lineage to create a contemporary pop sound defined by soft-focus nostalgia, romantic escapism and heartbreak you can dance to.

Before launching Youngeste, Majoos built an international profile across television, theatre and fashion. His performance across three seasons of Heartbreak High earned him an AACTA Award nomination for Best Lead Actor in a Drama, alongside recognition as a Casting Guild of Australia Rising Star. He also appeared on the February 2023 Pride cover of Vogue Australia, with fashion collaborations including Coach, Prada, Dior, Cartier, Chopard and Calvin Klein.
