Oklahoma-based dream-pop duo Sports are back with their exhilarating new single ‘Nice 2 Meet Myself (Bang Bang Bang)’ – a jolty yet dreamy track that blends glitchy psychedelia with their signature hazy soundscapes. LISTEN TO ‘NICE 2 MEET MYSELF (BANG BANG BANG)’ ON APPLE MUSIC, SPOTIFY, AMAZON MUSIC + MORE NOW.

Equal parts cathartic and euphoric, the track explores themes of freedom, self-acceptance, and emotional release – a sonic embodiment of flying weightless, untethered from fear or expectation. Speaking on the inspiration behind ‘Nice 2 Meet Myself’, Cale and Christian share; “This song was built around the sample heard at the very beginning -“bang bang bang.” Inspired by a chapter in David Byrne’s How Music Works, which explores how artists often (consciously or not) write music that suits the venues they imagine themselves playing in, we set out to intentionally create a song that would sound great in a stadium or arena.”

“Lyrically, the song’s title and concept were inspired by How To Meet Yourself by Dr. Nicole LePera. It imagines a version of yourself that’s free from fear, free from judgment, and ultimately free from yourself. The lyric “I just want to fly, but all I ever do is shoot me down” speaks to the way we often keep ourselves trapped – how we long for freedom but are held back by our own mental prisons. In the end, it’s only you standing in your way.”

Drawing from a wide array of creative and spiritual influences, Sports continue to craft music with intentionality and depth. This new release stands as a testament to resilience. A message of finding peace and personal freedom, even in the face of doubt. It’s a powerful statement from a band who have always aimed to create more than just sound, but something that resonates with deeper meaning.

‘Nice 2 Meet Myself (Bang Bang Bang)’ follows on from their warmly received track ‘If You Want Me’, a groove-laden reintroduction that marked the start of an exciting new chapter. With each release, Sportsbuild on their evolving sound and vision, signaling that something big is on the horizon.

With an impressive career already behind them, highlighted by their platinum single ‘You Are The Right One‘ amassing over 179 million streams on Spotify alone, and fan favourites like ‘Panama‘ (52M streams) and ‘Baby Baby‘ (47M streams) following closely behind, they’ve built a devoted, engaged fanbase.

Since their breakout debut in 2015 with Naked All the Time, Sports have cultivated a cult following, spending the last decade carving out a distinct lane in alt-pop, blending funk-laden electro grooves with dreamy, experimental production. With four projects already under their belt and a musical partnership that began when they were just 13, ‘If You Want Me’ and ‘Nice 2 Meet Myself (Bang Bang Bang)’ mark the beginning of a new chapter, one that builds on their evolution and hints at what’s to come on their forthcoming project.
