Summer Dance’s epic closure to the 2024-2025 season continues the event’s core ethos of celebrating community and empowering the diaspora of the dance community. Headlined by Yung Singh, supported by MESSIE b2b C.FRIM, Kayan and Kafi, one of the most riotous DJs on the circuit, buoyed by a string of viral moments. Motivated to re-energise the British Punjabi and South Asian music scene at large, Singh’s sets cover the gamut of genre from hip hop to everything in between, alongside a valiant showcase of his Punjabi roots. From a truly memorable BBC Radio 1 residency and Melbourne Boiler Room performance (featuring a truly unexpected Vampire Weekend drop), Singh’s return is bound to be electrifying.

Aotearoa talent MESSIE has long been grinding on the underground, capturing the attention of Fred again.. to officially remix ‘places to be’ ft. Anderson .Paak and CHIKA, collaborating with Joy Anonymous, her graft has been hard – touring across the UK and Europe, local appearances at Beyond The Valley, Wildlands, and rigorous dates around NZ. MESSIE comes together with C.FIRM, the Naarm / Melbourne talent behind Dutty Worldwide, the regular show stopper with fire blends of rap, afrobeat and dancehall to house and techno guaranteed to make you jump. Hers is a name synonymous with re-defining dance music in so called Australia.

Rounding out the day event includes Kayan, a recognised force from India as a musician, producer-DJ and more. From Soho House Mumbai to partnerships with Gucci to Crocs, whether it’s electronic or R&B music, Kayan is in control of the crowd and knows exactly how to activate a crowd and their senses. Her passion to constantly redefine her artistry is apparent across all mediums – no two performances by Kayan are the same. Elsewhere Astral have tapped local mainstay and curator Kafi, affiliate with Kerfew to moktar, Deepa, Wavyracer, Munasib and more, for the spotlight, warming up crowds with selections bound to assert Kafi as the next big thing on the scene.

AFTER DARK, Saliah, with Nina Las Vegas, Nash and Brown Suga Princess, will take to the stage. The acclaimed British-Lebanese producer known for delivering bass-heavy club with music from across the SWANA region, Saliah’s flair comes from her innovative remixes of Arabic classics with high energy, cross-genre, electronica that has captured the attention of Sherelle, BBC Radio 1’s Jaguar to Glastonbury. Her commitment to pay homage to her roots extends to her continuous work behind the scenes, supporting grass-roots organisations through DJ workshops and curating female-led line ups that leave a lasting mark.

NLV Records labelhead Nina Las Vegas needs no introduction, a force in the community and trailblazing the industry, the producer-DJ has appeared at every major Australian music festival countless times, with international appearances across Coachella, SXSW Austin, the UK and more amongst host to local Boiler Rooms and beyond. Nina’s powerful work ethic, tastemaker ethos cultivating the influential figure she is today – with USBs always on hand. Delhi based selector Nash (Mother Dance) comes as no stranger to international stages, from supports with Hamdi, Ahadadream, Jyoty and more, his staple across the Indian circuit highlights his attention to detail and genre agnostic approach – disco side by side with garage and left field techno to name a few. Inspired by classical Hindustani musicians and a love for rhythm, Nash is sure to offer something for everyone.

Joined by local event producer and community organiser Brown Suga Princess, the DJ who has been consistently popping in the Naarm underground scene. Bringing their love of bass, footwork and jungle across the best local parties. Reflective of their South Asian heritage, Brown Suga Princess blends diasporic sounds, unrelenting drums and heavy bass- lines to create a dance floor that feels expressive and connected. Together presenting a holistic showcase of energy and intention, Astral People’s final Summer Dance of the season is sure to capture rapture for the city’s largely embraced open-air party.
