Today artist on the rise Tasman Keith is elated to announce his highly anticipated debut album, A Colour Undone, out this July 7 via AWAL featuring Genesis Owusu, Jessica Mauboy, KwamePhil Fresh & Thandi Phoenix. Joining the announcement is the release of his new single ‘LOVE TOO SOON‘, where Keith continues to preview dynamic new territories to his musical and creative spheres, and new regional performance dates to the recently announced COLOUR LIVE tour. LISTEN + WATCH HERE.

Following the G-funk, lyrical spar of ‘5FT FREESTYLE‘, the release of ‘LOVE TOO SOON‘ tells the tale of heartbreak and the reality of meeting the right person at the wrong time. Without closing the door on the harsh bars that brought him here, ‘LOVE TOO SOON‘ marks the arrival of Tasman Keith the artist, a transformation that welcomes his inevitable arena-ready stardom.

Tasman explains, “Sonically ‘LOVE TOO SOON’ is the kind of music I’ve always wanted to make, a lot of elements taken from the pop artists I grew up on and in the writing you can hear that influence. It’s knowing that you love somebody but being too young in your own growth to see it for what it truly is, ultimately leaving the other damaged and eventually coming back with the clarity and self-worth to try again while hoping it isn’t too late.”

“‘LOVE TOO SOON’ introduces the other character that is portrayed throughout the album,” he continues. “This persona represents a side of me that could be searching for love or reminiscing on lust with an overall deep desire for connection. Throughout the album, it’s shown that this character has always felt like he must present himself in ways that complement his vulnerability and willingness to be so open, even when it leaves him at risk of being hurt.”

The single arrives with a music video directed and choreographed by Claudia Sangiorgi Dallimore (Thelma PlumMo’Ju), shot in its entirety via one single take. Of their collaboration Claudia shares, “Tas and I working together has been on the cards for many years now. I think he was just waiting for the perfect moment to bring me in, and I’m glad he did. In the days leading up to the shoot, all I kept saying to him was I need you to dance and smile like your life depended on it. I’m proud of Tas for letting himself be open to a softer side, to show people his love of dance, his smile, his romantic spirit. It’s so heartwarming for me to watch his and Hëna’s performance chemistry come alive on screen.

A Colour Undone carries itself with a self-assured sense of its own gravity, ambition and purpose. Granted the full canvas of the album format, experimentation and emotional nuance find room to thrive, and Tasman’s stylistic horizons move outwards while his lyricism narrows. With the majority recorded over six days, A Colour Undone, executive produced by Tasman Keith and Kwame, is the product of an irreproducible mind space, deft in its embrace of imperfection and devoid of overthinking.

With no one left to prove himself to, but himself, Tasman‘s debut album is motivated by the ability to narrate his story and his truth, unencumbered and undiluted. Through metaphor and his lived experience, A Colour Undone ruminates on love, loss, trauma, healing and ego; as dexterous, clever and linguistically adventurous as it is emotionally resonant.

ABOUT TASMAN KEITH

Tasman Keith inherited music. Since first appearing on stage at age eight alongside his pioneering father, Tasman channeled adolescent listlessness into the outlet of hip hop – crammed with six cousins in a makeshift studio at their local youth centre. While he may have been born into music, the sense of surrounding community was the true birthplace of Tasman Keith as an artist. Determined from a young age to only ever run his own race, imbued with a singular desire to occupy a boundaryless territory of his own, between debut EPs, collaborative mixtapes and wins across triple j and Australian Independent Record Awards, and National Indigenous Music Award nominations, Keith has traversed stages across the country, including a reputation for stealing shows “in all of five minutes” (The Australian) alongside national icons and his contemporaries, Midnight Oil, Jessica Mauboy, Kwame and many more. Needless to say, so-called Australia is beginning to see in Tasman what he and his cousins did, back in that Bowraville studio with stained carpet hung on walls for soundproofing.

With his eyes firmly set on the globe, today Tasman Keith steadies for game day, ready to claim the championship win for his own. In recently announcing his signing to AWAL Digital Recordings, he joined the ranks of global stars Little Simz, Genesis Owusu, Spacey Jane, and more, together with the legendary catalogues of Beyoncé, Tyler, the Creator, The Beatles, and many others at Sony Music Publishing. follows his landmark support alongside Midnight Oil’s first live performances in two decades and collaborative release ‘First Nation’ on their #1 ARIA Album The Makarrata Project, and the recent victory lap of ‘ONE’, a joint release with Kwame. With each release, Tasman has maintained widespread fever across national press, including the NME MagazineAcclaim, Complex, Rolling StoneVICESydney Morning HeraldThe Australian, and more; alongside his TV debut performances on ABC’s The Sound and The Set as well as making an appearance alongside Peter Garrett on The Today Show, with playlisting from triple j, Unearthed, FBi Radio, RAGE, and MTV. Today, tomorrow, this year, one thing remains certain – Tasman Keith did not come to play.
