Australian indie-pop group Teenage Dads today share their latest EP My Memento, out now via Chugg Music. LISTEN HERE.

An extension of their 2024 album Majordomo, My Memento is infectious and creatively bold. Known for their ability to fuse a multitude of soundscapes that range from punchy alt-rock anthems to indie-pop, the EP marks the next step of Teenage Dads’ refined sonic evolution. Re-capturing the excitement of their acclaimed sophomore record, My Momento is four-track collection of songs that were initially hidden from Majordomo, which became cult favourites when fans discovered and began leaking them online. Rather than pulling away from this underground momentum, Teenage Dads leaned into it, embracing the connection their listeners had built with the songs.

“‘My Memento’ was born out of a song we always believed in as well as the desire of giving back to our fans,” Teenage Dads share. “My Memento for us is looking back on recording our album, MAJORDOMO, in Byron Bay last year. These songs didn’t make it onto the album officially, but we did add one of each to the end of the vinyl variants at random. We thought that’s where they would sit, until our fans found, named and bootlegged these songs on our discord server. So this EP is for them, and for everyone who has been a part of our journey so far. We actually liked the names they chose better than our own so that’s what we went with.”

In a gift back to the fans who unearthed them and a bold new chapter for a band that thrives on sharing its most personal moments, My Memento is pure creative expression best reflected in today’s focus track ‘Fire Fire’ – a release which in their words “came from the grief and chaos after losing a hard drive. Years and years of art and music all gone. I think for anyone, when you lose something that close and personal, it feels like that era of your life goes up in flames”. Following lead single ‘Stay Between Us’, My Memento keeps the theme of MAJORDOMO in reclaiming control of a lost part of yourself. ‘Tidal Waves’ details the breaking point and realisation that you’ve wasted too much time on someone who won’t change, and ‘Little Bird’ rounds out the EP, finding comfort in someone or something that feels eternal.

Finding another gear on their songwriting, My Momento follows Teenage Dads’ 2024 album Majordomo, a record which landed triple j Feature Album, debuted at #1 in the ARIA Aus Album Charts, #2 in the ARIA Album Charts and #6 in the Vinyl Charts, collected radio support across the board at iHeartRadio, fbi radio, 2SER, 4ZZZ and SYN FM alongside widespread acclaim from Rolling Stone, 10 Magazine, Billboard, NME, Frankie Magazine and more, with To Be Magazine praising their “sonic library that is at once unique, sentimental and quotidian”.

Landing the 2023 ARIA Breakthrough Artist, Teenage Dads have continued to garner audiences through extensive touring across Australia, the UK, EU, North America and Canada. With festival appearances at SXSW Sydney, Laneway Festival, The Great Escape (UK), Splendour in the Grass, Yours & Owls to sharing stages with Dayglow, Spacey Jane, Lime Cordiale, The Brook & The Bluff, and more, their ability to translate live recordings into a live setting shows no sign of slowing down.

This September, Teenage Dads will perform across the UK and EU to celebrate the release of My Memento and Majordomo, and have also announced that they will be joining cult indie-rock pillars Franz Ferdinand on their upcoming Australian tour this November – for all upcoming tour routing info + tickets see HERE.
