The Blossom Shares New Single “Wish You Well”
LA-based, The Blossom (a.k.a Lily Lizotte), today shares new single, “Wish You Well,” an upbeat experimental pop earworm, from her forthcoming EP, Bleeding Buttercup. Listen to “Wish You Well”HERE.
“Wish You Well,” produced by LA-based Christofi (Nolie, Remi Wolf, remixes for Louis The Child) came out of a session during Lily’s recent Future Classic studio residency. Says Lily about the new track, “It’s like a serenade to toxicity and feeling an ambivalence towards everything, It’s really playful, I wanted to wrap my pain up in something that sounded lyrically and melodically like a nursery rhyme.”
The accompanying video is eclectic, playful, personal, shot by NYC-based director, Dani Aphrodite. Says Dani, “Lily and I both come from the same world of mixed media and cut & paste creating. We are both inspired by so many things outside ourselves, but we mash it all up to make something more specific. This video was about that, documenting and combining all of the places, people and things I associate with Lily and her new project.”
About The Blossom
Lily Lizotte grew up in Sydney grappling with her own sense of identity as both a daughter of a Southeast Asian immigrant trying to fit into a majority white Australian culture as well as coming out as queer. With both parents as artists, she found writing and singing about her struggles with anxiety, depression, and more, to be a cathartic release. Lily started putting out experimental pop singles as Lila Gold, garnering praise from i-D, triple J, Clash, Milk, and landing her on stage supporting Empress Of, Wafia, among others. Now LA-based and coming into her own, Lily is ready to start her next chapter as The Blossom.
