Because Music (Christine and the Queens, Shygirl, Justice, Logic1000, and more) will make their official SXSW debut with a run of four events, kicking off on Monday March 13th at The Venue ATX with the French Touch Official Showcase (presented by BPI & curated by Because).The label brings their signature vibey, dance-music-obsessed Parisian presence to the festival with plenty of opportunities to join in and experience it first-hand. RSVP HERE.

Monday’s showcase is in partnership with French Touch – a movement dedicated to the French Cultural and Creative Industries (CCI) – who are hosting a series of exciting daytime SXSW panels (see HERE). The Because x French Touch showcase will bring an evening of forward-thinking and danceable electronic music featuring DJ sets by Myd, Pedro Winder aka Busy P (both celebrating 20 years of Ed Banger), and Cerrone. Wednesday afternoon means Because Music Happy Hour and later a collab with Deezer for a night of DJ sets from Myd and Cerrone. Thursday’s show featuring Brandt Brauer Frick, Desire, Roosevelt, and Tangerine Dream will close out their week of parties – schedule below and more on the performing artists HERE.

Headquartered in Paris, Because Music launched in 2004 & reached immediate worldwide success with the release of Amadou & Mariam’s acclaimed album, Dimanche à Bamako. The catalog quickly grew with global signees such as Manu Chao, Charlotte Gainsbourg, and more. Because Music then entered a partnership with Ed Banger Records (known over the last 20 years for their legendary roster including acts such as Justice), and has since set up shop in London & represented Metronomy, Django Django, Shygirl, Jeshi, and many more. In 2017, Because Music acquired London Records & has since brought a renaissance to the brand with signings such as Alewya under the moniker Because London Records.

In opening up an office & studio in Los Angeles in 2019, the label group provides opportunities for the international roster to collaborate & work in America. In 2020, Because Music proudly joined American Association of Independent Music & earned the label’s first A2IM nomination in 2021 for Christine and the Queens & followed with its second nomination in 2022 with Logic1000.
