The ‘mother :;~ rebirth’ EP by Logic1000 is Out Today, ft. Empress Of, Vv Pete, and Vagabon
Today, Logic1000 — the alias of Berlin-based producer Samantha Poulter — releases mother :;~ rebirth, an EP made with special guest collaborators and featuring reworked versions of standout moments from her recent debut album Mother. The focus track of mother :;~ rebirth is “oceanic” featuring Vagabon, the NY-based, Cameroon-born alt-pop multi-instrumentalist and artist who has contributed a breathtaking and bitter-sweet re-imagination of the forceful club-ready instrumental. Listen to mother :;~ rebirth here.
The EP’s first single, “side by side feat. Empress Of,” came alongside the announcement and saw praise from Clash, NME, and Resident Advisor. Following Empress Of’s feature, Logic1000 shared the EP’s next track “heartbeat ft. Vv Pete” and remixed Dua Lipa’s “Illusion,” which PAPER said “turns the marquee hit from Radical Optimism into a late-night floor-filler.”
Of today’s release, Poulter says: “The beauty and fragility of Vagabon’s voice on this version of ‘oceanic’ takes the song into quite an emotional place. Her voice is so soft and warm, and it brings out a vulnerability from the original that I didn’t quite know was there. The whole rebirth EP has been given so much extra life to it via the beautiful artists who contributed their voices to it. What a blessing and an honor it has been to be able to co-create with such talented women. I think this final release off rebirth is such a nice way to move forward into the next stages of writing music, because it has left us feeling so inspired and filled with creativity.”
In March of this year, Logic1000 released her long awaited debut album Mother via Therapy / Because Music to widespread acclaim, which included gracing the cover of NME, being named DJ Mag’s Album of the Month, delivering a sensational Crack Mix, Boiler Room session, BBC Radio 1 Future Artists mixtape, and discussing the journey of both motherhood and Mother on NPR’s Weekend Edition.
Mother was, at its core, an ambitious and irresistibly melodic 12-track album. Inspired by entering motherhood for the first time, the album featured an array of emerging artists and DJs who reflect Logic1000’s mission to bring forth new female talent. Sonically, Mother fused Poulter’s love of 90s pop and R&B with hard-hitting club sounds, creating a world worth reveling in.
Poulter was also recently invited to remix Shygirl’s “Mute,” and shared a new episode of her podcast Logic1000 & Helena Star Present: Therapy which featured a conversation with guest Jamz Supernova, listen back and subscribe here. As Logic1000 has a summer full of festivals across the UK and Europe, she’ll be stateside for Chicago’s ARC Music Festival on August 30, more info available here.
