Following the recent announcement of their debut album, Everything Every Single Day, arriving on Oct 3, The Rions today share their new single ‘Cry’. LISTEN HERE + PRE-SAVE THE LP HERE.

Always inspired to convey their authentic voice and perspective through their lyrics, ‘Cry’ sees The Rions challenge the prevalent cycle of toxic masculinity: authority figures making excuses for bad behaviour, allowing injustice to perpetuate across generations. But instead of a call out, The Rions take the opportunity to call in, singing, “I don’t know why we let this slide / excuses won’t make this right”.

“We wrote ‘Cry’ about the dangerous and very real cycle of ‘attitude’ passed from father to son,” the band share. “Something as simple as “casual jokes” being thrown around at the pub, or around the dinner table can be much more harmful than you think. Young men need to be taught to take accountability for our actions, now more than ever. There’s no more room for excuses. Pull up your friends, do better.”

‘Cry’ is the latest preview of The Rion’s hotly anticipated debut album, Everything Every Single Day: a project that encapsulates the self-discovery of a band that’s only just getting started. “In some ways, it feels like the first real step,” the band explain. “It’s the most open wound we’ve allowed the world to see thus far, and an insight into our lives as humans. All our triumphs, our regrets, our shortcomings, our philosophies, our hopes, and our dreams on a 13-track silver platter.”

Further shaped through decisive lead single ‘Shut You Out’, the piano-led ballad ‘Maybe I’m Just A Freak’ and the anthemic ‘Tonight’s Entertainment’, The Rions’ evolved sound is immediate, with infectious pop hooks and honed guitar riffs that channel influences from Role Model, The Japanese House and Sam Fender. With over 60 million streams across their catalogue, an ARIA Gold Certified single in 2021’s ‘Night Light’, sold-out headline shows both at home and across the globe, The Rions have cemented their position as one of the country’s most exciting indie rock acts, all before releasing their first album.

Having just announced their national album tour slated for October, presented by triple j, the band will be taking on their biggest headline shows to date in Meanjin / Brisbane, Eora / Sydney, Naarm / Melbourne, nipaluna / Hobart, and Tarndanya / Adelaide. Following this, The Rions will be heading on a headline tour across the UK and Europe this November, before capping off the year at Changing Tides Festival in November and Spilt Milk festival this December.
