Triple One shares video for ‘So Easy’ ft. Matt Corby and Kwame
Triple One are excited to share their video for current single, ‘So Easy’ featuring Matt Corby & Kwame. Watch it HERE.
Directed by Martin Guilfoyle & Harry Welsh, the video mirrors the lyrics of the song and features a series of third-wheeling scenes including some of Triple One’s favourite real-life couples. Playing homage to the imagery of Napoleon Dynamite, the video also features Triple One, Kwame and a rare appearance from Matt Corby, as well as cameos from 111 collaborators including Nerve and 18 Year Old Man.
Of the video, Triple One says, “Everybody’s been a third wheel at some point in their lives. We wanted to approach those heart-wrenching situations in a more light-hearted way, and it was awesome to get some of our best friends and collaborators involved – especially Kwame & Matt Corby, who doesn’t get involved with videos too often.“
With one foot planted in Sydney’s gritty underground rap scene, and the other in the sounds of Inner West indie, Triple One are a sonic experiment between hard, soft, beautiful, grimey and all the textures in between. The product of a porous internet generation, their music is rooted in hip hop but is animated by the group’s fearless, restless creativity, exploring metal, emo, pop, punk and R&B in a fierce, blasphemous repudiation of genre barriers. It’s a singular combination that makes Triple One impossible to categorise and even harder to ignore.
ABOUT TRIPLE ONE:
Having accumulated underground buzz for years through viral early singles ‘Doozy’ and ‘Overflow’ and their notorious live shows, Triple One broke into Australia’s mainstream consciousness in 2018 with singles ‘Showoff’, ‘Tarlo’ and ‘Valentine Kid’ being added to high rotation on triple j. Profiles from Complex, GQ and Highsnobiety followed, as did a spot on Youtube’s first ever ‘Artists to Watch’ list and spotlights as triple j Unearthed’s ‘Artist of the Week’, Apple Music’s ‘New Artist of the Week’ and more. In 2019 they consolidated their takeover of Australian airwaves with pensive, mental health-centred single ‘Butter’, which scored rotation on triple j and FBi Radio, and the release of their third EP, The Libertine 2.
Local acclaim has also translated into international attention, with Apple Music/Beats 1 tastemaker Zane Lowe praising their “Brockhampton-style energy in the sense of free will and creativity”, and the boys making their debut international headline tour across Europe and the UK in May. Back home, they’re proving more popular than ever pulling massive crowds at Listen Out nationally throughout September, supporting Rich Brian on his The Sailor Australian tour in August, and selling out 5 headline showsacross the country in June. Last week, Triple One continued to showcase their live prowess as they headlined Spotify’s A1 Hip Hop and will continue to do so as they tour nationally with Horrorshowin support of their recent collaboration ‘Monkey Bars’.
