Tomorrow, March 29, Reading-based artist, Songer will share his latest mixtape, THE PRICE OF THERAPY. PRE-SAVE HERE.

In his latest release, Songer utilises deep introspection and the catharsis of music as a therapeutic outlet. His own sentiment of writing as “a coping mechanism” is one deeply imprinted on THE PRICE OF THERAPY, with poignant lyrics and rousing production, the mixtape delves into the struggles of mental health with the healing process his craft provides artists and listeners alike – a thread that runs through much of Songer’s work already, most notably in his 2023 album SKALA and 2021 mixtape The Sunrise Project.

Reflecting on THE PRICE OF THERAPY, Songer shares the project is “about coming to grips with the positive and negative consequences of using music as a form of help. It’s a balance of highs, lows, honesty, and hyperbole, to express the challenges of acceptance. The music fluctuates between vulnerability and braggadocio, all with the underlying tone of beauty. I wrote it to maintain an honest relationship with my music, and so I can always associate future successes or failures with the most authentic version of myself. It’s a body of work to reflect who I am as a person, as well as an artist.

Homing huge old-school hip-hop beats in focus track ‘Wide Awake’, to James Blake-esque production in ‘Find Peace’, THE PRICE OF THERAPY unravels in a chameleonic nature. A true testament to the Reading rapper’s metamorphic abilities, able to straddle a multiplicity of genres while consistently delivering his unique quality of rap lyricism. With every release, Songer strives to push his own boundaries and enhance his craft, as potently as he delivers authentically felt music that resonates globally.

The sought after artist enters 2024 following a streak of chart success, with tracks like ‘Vino Bandit’ with K Motionz sitting at over 22M+ streams, and more recently, ‘Toxic (Freestyle)‘ which peaked at #29 on the UK Charts, standing as one of the hottest UK rap tracks for 7 consecutive weeks and garnering over 15 million streams internationally. His ascent follows #1 chart-topping debut SKALA, a breakout moment for the rapper amongst features with D Double E.

Songer’s trajectory over the last year includes a stream of support across BBC Radio 1, Xtra, KISS FM, Capital Xtra, Billboard, The Independent, The Evening Standard, NME, Clash, Notion, GRM Daily, Wonderland, and many more alongside his debut headling tour in Australia in 2023 and his biggest UK headline dates ever in England, Scotland and Ireland – most notably at London’s O2 Kentish Town Forum. Leaving no stone unturned, Songer continues to forge a path of authenticity and meaning with his fanbase, ever-expanding.
