Volumes Festival announces 2016 line-up

June 21 2016

VOLUMES festival proudly returns in 2016 to the heart of Sydney for its second annual event – this time expanding across two days over August 26 and 27.

Back as a multi-stage, multi-venue, live music, visual & electronic art and digital media experience, the event takes place at Oxford Square and the surrounds, including iconic Sydney venues Oxford Art Factory, The Cliff Dive, The Burdekin Hotel and Brighton Up Bar. True to form, Volumes focuses on showcasing more than 80 emerging artists, labels and collectives at the vanguard of Australia’s creative community across 6 carefully constructed stages and immersive spaces to create a cohesive experience of sound and vision.

In its inaugural year, Volumes 2015 was in a class of its own, inviting musicians and music lovers alike to reignite a part of the inner city that is sometimes forgotten. By mid-afternoon rooms were alive and in full force, celebrating the best Australia has to offer. Nominated for Best Live Event at FBi SMAC Awards and Best New Event at the Concrete Playground Best of Sydney, Volumes has firmly embedded itself into the Sydney calendar.

Volumes 2016 is proud to present a handpicked roster of musicians and artists, together with the support of celebrated Australian labels such as Rice Is Nice, Bedroom Suck, Moontown Records, Strange Yonder and I OH You, that push the boundaries of creative expression, showcasing both those who have already established themselves as an unshakeable force as well as those who are beginning to map their own path.

“The event is an innovative take on presenting local live music.”
Broadsheet, Sydney

“…a collaborative concept between some of Australia’s most groundbreaking labels, hyped-up musicians and Sydney venues…”
Concrete Playground

“…Volumes first year was particularly ambitious in light of the city’s recent venue closures and lock out laws but the festival was successful in supporting emerging Aussie talent and helping to reinvigorate Sydney’s live music scene.”

“…in the first incarnation of what’s sure to be a celebrated annual occurrence, VOLUMES Festival brought Sydney’s music fans out of their share houses and into venues, catering a fantastically eclectic showcase of Australian music…It really can’t be overstated how important a festival like VOLUMES is…it is instrumental that there is a festival that showcases everything there is to love about Sydney and Australian music.”
