Wafia shares debut XXIX EP out today via Future Classic
Today, 22-year old songwriter and vocalist WAFIA releases her debut XXIX EP out via Future Classic.
The five-track EP features her current single ‘Heartburn’ which has streamed more than 700,000 times since its release, peaked #1 on the Hype Machine viral chart and received a nod from Beats 1’s Zane Lowe who described it as “a combination of dance and electronic music coming together with great, instinctive pop melodies“. Listen to the track, co-produced by Ta-ku and co-written with Ben Abraham, here.
Wafia’s XXIX EP, named for the elemental symbol for copper, also features four new tracks with production from Ta-ku and Thrupence and an appearance from Brisbane’s Vancouver Sleep Clinic. Of her collaborators, Wafia notes, “Without each of them, this record would be vastly different. All my love to Thrupence, Ta-ku, Vancouver Sleep Clinic, Ben Abraham & Andrei Eremin.“
Audiences can also get a taste of the making of the EP via a short behind the scenes video put together by Wafia herself of which she adds, “It has been a big part of my life for the two years it’s taken me to make. This video (composed mostly of the scraps of snapchat videos I remembered to save) serves as a glimpse at my time in all the studios that have housed me and all the people I have been lucky enough to work with.“

Wafia will appear as part of Ta-ku’s live show at Field Day, Southbound and Beyond The Valley this NYE.
