WALKER. gears a heavier side with gravitational new track ‘Life & Death’
Eora / Sydney producer and songwriter WALKER. today shares his next cascading track and accompanying video, titled ‘Life & Death’. LISTEN HERE + WATCH HERE.
Swapping out his trademark uplifting dance pattern for a darker counterpart, ‘Life & Death’ presents a new sonic identity for WALKER., lit up by the rhythm of dark clubs and the dimension of Gaspar Noe-inspired cinema in deeply personal dedication to his uncle. Injecting his dynamic, sense-driven production, he carefully turns the light down a notch with a heavier take on electronica that bristles with textured distortion.
Cementing a cross-section of life of the beginning, the end, and all of the light and darkness in between with lyrics like “Don’t let them fade / How did it end up like that / I know I will miss you in the morning”, WALKER. recounts this spectrum through his own experience. Of the track’s context, he shares, “I wrote ‘Life & Death’ late one rainy night when my uncle Richard was dying in the hospital across the road from me. I could see his room from my balcony and was so sad & angry that his cancer had come back out of nowhere. When he passed I wrote the lyrics as a reminder not to let him fade. You can also hear his voice right at the end of the song from an old voicemail that he left me.”
“Life and Death is a big departure from my usual uplifting dance music but I wanted to also show the darker, harder, heavier parts of life – everything can’t always be light. One moment you can be sitting with my friends laughing and the next you can be hearing someone is no longer here, Things change so quickly. One moment you’re floating, the next you’re falling fast.”

The track is also joined by an accompanying video, co-directed by WALKER. alongside Dave May and Miles Hellyner. “My uncle Richard was a talented film director, so I really wanted to get the visuals right for this track” WALKER. explains. “My Dad (Richard’s brother) appears in it along with some incredibly talented friends from all different walks of life. The music video was something we put a lot of work into and it’s been great to see it pick up a couple of awards ahead of the track’s release.” Dave May also reveals “The music video for Life & Death was a dream project to work on. Sean, Miles and I were immediately on the same page when it came to creating visuals that would capture the music’s dark intensity. Sean sets a high bar with all his work and that lit a fire under us to make sure the video would hit as hard as the track does.”
