What Love Is by Zimmer90 is out now, buy/stream it here.

Today, Zimmer90 — the German duo of best friends and creative partners Finn and Joscha whose sophisticated and wistful pop music recalls shades of Parcels, Air, Phoenix, and The Bee Gees — release their new EP What Love Is, a collection that highlights their impressively restrained and irresistibly lush sound that straddles disco, yacht rock, French touch, and psychedelia. It’s a wonderful synthesis of the organic and electronic, all performed and recorded in Joscha’s grand-aunt’s warmly appointed studio space. Listen to What Love Is here.

When the EP was announced last month, they shared a music video for its lead single “What Love Is,” a cinematic and sighing disco track that’s become an online smash: it’s closing in on 16.5M Spotify streams, hit #1 viral on Instagram with nearly 2M creations, and has soundtracked over 500K+ TikToks. Watch the music video for “What Love Is” here.

United by a deep love of music as well as architecture, design, and art, Finn (keys, bass, guitar, backing vocals) and Joscha (lead vocals, keys) exhibit an intimate chemistry on record, on stage, and on their ballooning social media accounts. The duo describe their group thusly: “Zimmer90 is not just a band, but rather this one art project, where all our interests and inspirations unite and build something beautiful. It is a special place for us… Zimmer90 is a real place that starts to exist when we are creating music together. It‘s a space where fulfillment, connection and artistry can be enjoyed and experienced.”

In 2021, the beloved French label Kitsuné released “Fall Back,” the title track to Zimmer90’s debut EP. They honed their live chops on a sold-out 28-date headlining tour across Germany, Austria + Switzerland, and, as this Live From Funkhaus Berlin session attests, came out a well-oiled disco machine.

Recently, Zimmer90 wrapped a run of sold-out headlining European dates in their biggest venues yet and a UK tour opening for Chromeo. The crowds were thrilled. Lots more, including debut North American dates, to come.
