Alex Cameron
Initially inspired by Nico Walker’s Cherry, Cameron’s latest opus Oxy Music (released in March 2022) is his response to the mass opioid addiction which has swept America, a musical questioning of topics such as addiction, mental health, and love, mythical stories told in Cameron’s genre-busting glory. Brighter and more buoyant than his previous LPs – 2014 debut Jumping The Shark, 2017’s Forced Witness, and 2019’s Miami Memory – Cameron has dropped the laconic, hypermasculine role-playing of his earlier solo releases for a place of optimism, stories told in the way that only he can tell. “The album is a story, a work of fiction, mostly from the perspective of a man,” says Cameron. “Starved of meaningful purpose, confused about the state of the world, and in dire need of a reason to live.”
